Keep it classy Salem

Written by Glen Hughes on October 7th, 2008 4 Comments

Okay, today I’m just posting about a small irksome matter.  What the hell is up with that horrible carnivalesque booth someone plopped on the corner of Essex and Washington?  It looks like you should be getting a corn dog or fried dough for $4.50 but instead its supposed to be some sort of info booth.

Salem's Super Info Booth

Salems Super Info Booth

Don’t get me wrong as a site that offers info on Salem and what it has to offer I am glad to see the city stepping up and helping tourists out but, they are doing themselves a disservice by cheesing it up in some left over carnie mobile.

Come on Salem you’re better that that!

Wow, way to screw up a spot that’s always encouraged people to hang out and interact.

Excellent point, my thoughts were the same as my wife and I were walking around this past weekend. Don’t forget about the “classy” carnival that will be stood-up on Derby Street next to the Hess gas station. I noticed yesterday the 4 foot tall weeds were cut down and “no parking” signs were installed in front of the property so they can begin shipping in the “Coney Island” amusements. In fact, the very booth you pointed out looks very familiar to me. It just may have been used at the amusement park on Derby Street last year to sell tickets for rides.

    Eric,

It looked familiar to me also, last Halloween we did a post regarding the carnival on Derby Street and took this photo.

I agree, that booth is really fugly.
I wonder how Rockafella’s feels about having that as their view all month.

As least is doesn’t have a row of porta-potties behind it…..
