Sometimes you just want a slice or two because a whole pie is too much. For my money, Engine House pizza is your best bet.

Don’t get me wrong, Engine House serves up more than just pie, they also have subs, salads, sides and wraps. It’s just that their slice of pizza is the best in town.

As a pizza expert (worked in pizza restaurants for almost10 years as a teenager/young adult) I know a thing or two about good pizza. Engine House always has fresh slices in their rack. Their slice pies (industry term for a pizza that you serve slices from – this is different from a normal pie you serve as one unit) are made with a bit more cheese than a normal pie so that each slice has a good amount of cheese on it. Also, they take the slice pie out of the oven on the light side so that when you order a slice and have it heated up it does not burn.

Their crusts seem to be tossed with 100% flower and no semolina, which gives it a smooth crunchy texture and an even crust with no burnt gritty dust on the bottom.

Engine house is a true pizzeria (with an antique firefighter motif) , serving beer and wine with traditional Italian style pizza tossed by hand. If your appetite demands more than just a slice or two, Salem insiders know that for every 10 pies you take out or have delivered you get one FREE!

Yes the food is good but the customer service is absolutely awful….they are rude and disrespectful….and their delivery drivers show up with no money to make change…and with the delivery charge added on to the total bill ..it seems like the driver always is waiting for a tip.

Uneatable. Ever since the ‘new’ guy took over, place has gone downhil..

I grew up on the north shore and Salem is not known for its pizza.
Engine House is not good pizza, you be better off getting a steak and cheese or chicken parm sub.
Upper crust is better pizza hands down.

Engine House has great Pizza. Best in Salem hands down. There have been many improvements in the appearance of the restaurant and in some of the recipes… chicken fingers and cutlets for example are homemade now and not frozen mass produced. The cutomer service had some attitude issues, but some employees have recently left and there are some new fresh faces and the owner is back working more hours to help improve the customer service issues. The delivery charge is $1.50 which is pretty reasonable, and has been the same for years. The New Guy… is not so new, he’s been there for 25yrs… started as a bus boy there when he was a kid and took over 5yrs ago. Give them a try again… if your not happy tell them. They are very good at making sure you are satisfied, they cant fix something if you dont let them know at the time of the problem.

I feel that Engine House has only gotten better since Peter Dragon took over.
