The Crepe Cafe - NOW CLOSED (thankfully)
180 Essex St.
Salem, MA
A better name for this crepe joint should be the Crappy Cafe. It rates as the worst place to eat in Salem.
Before I go off on how bad this place was let me just tell you that the interior is spacious and the spartan euro decor was a refereshing change from many of the tightly packed breakfast joints and coffee bars. Now for the low down. The girl taking our order was clueless and had a hard time responding to simple questions. She was flustered, didn”t know how to use the register and couldn”t add our order up. We had to cut her a little slack because it was only her second day. Our order consisted of a cinimon crepe, a zippy crepe, a “frozen” capacino and an iced tea. We paid an ridiculously overpriced $18.90. After about five minutes (there was only one other couple there so the wait time was pathetic) we recived our drinks. The “frozen” cappacino was a hot cappacino with 3 icubes thrown in it. When I brought it back and suggested there was a mix up I was informed that was a “frozen” cappacino. I explained it was hot and therefore not frozen and asked it to be remedied. A few minutes later i was given the same thing back but with more ice. We then informed the service person how to make a frozen cappacino and was finally given what I origanally ordered. Shortly after that debaucle our $7.50 crepes showed up. The cinimon crepe tasted fine but was only 3 bites. The atmosphere doesen”t warent your waste of time and money.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from the Crepe cafe.
