The first thing that hits you about this mexican restaurant is it’s kitschy decorations: chili-pepper lights, mexican blankets and hats adorn the interior and exterior. You almost get the feeling that they’re trying a little too hard. The service at Edgewater is a bit iffy, some days you get great service, other days not so much. The margaritas are always potent and and their sangria is nice and fruity, but if you’re thirsty it might take you a while to get your server’s attention.

Unfortunately while the drinks are excellent, the food tends to be as questionable as the service. The portions of their “authentic mexican fare” are large, but the true flavor has yet to surface because many of the dishes are so overpoweringly encased in melted cheese that you can’t really taste whats underneath. The appetizers have yet to disappoint, the red hot buffalo wings are meaty and not overly breaded and the amadillo eggs are a must for those who enjoy the spicy things in life (and they ARE spicy!). Overall, if you go in with low expectations you might actually be pleasantly surprised.

Edgewater offers a Sunday brunch and live music Wednesday- Friday. In the good weather months the small capacity interior seating is expanded by their outdoor patio which offers a  view of the downtown hustle and bustle.
